Listen to the July 2024 Bluffdale Times Podcast to learn more about the events and maybe a surprise or two....
I am very excited for Bluffdale Old West Days® this year! We have a lot of old traditions and some new ones too. One tradition that I love is our parade. This year, 14400 South will be under construction and will be a dirt road (this makes it more authentic) and will be closed. There will be a lot of parking and a hayride shuttle available (see inside the newsletter for more details). The parade route has also been altered because of construction. The parade route will be along 2200 West this year. There is a map on the website and in the newsletter with parking options and instructions. Look for my friends Gene and Janice Wright who are the Grand Marshalls, the Bluffdale float, the High School band and so much more!
Another tradition that I love is our rodeo. Every year it sells out. This year, as we are rebuilding the arena, we will not be able to hold the rodeo. I look forward to having new bleachers and bathrooms and a big rodeo celebration in 2025. Because of our Bluffdale horse legacy, there will be a Horse Expo during Old West days, Saturday, from 11-3. There will be all different breeds of horses, shows, rodeo queens, grooming classes, and the opportunity for children to touch and make friends with the horses.
There will be activities all week, starting on August 1st with Newsies and ending August 10th with our main event. Make sure to mark on your calendars Youth Nite, Senior Dinner, Lions Club Car Show, Children’s Entrepreneur Market, Movie in the Park and the Bluffdale Firefighters Association Breakfast Saturday morning.
Bring money Saturday for the food trucks and to purchase tickets for the Midway games, water slides, petting zoo, and bungee trampoline. There will be a free art project for the kids, games, bingo, entertainment (see website for details) and more. I would love to see everyone bring their chairs, blankets and coolers and hang out all day. Saturday evening, starting at 5 PM, the concert begins. The headliner, Crazy Coyote starts at 7 PM and they will be also calling out line dancing!
To end our big week and to celebrate our amazing community, the firework show will begin around 9:45 at Bluffdale City Park. So many people have worked together to make this celebration possible. Also, a big thank you to our amazing sponsors who have generously donated to Bluffdale Old West Days®. Make sure to look in the newsletter for their names and please thank them by supporting their business.
